  Reduction gears
The company became known through a patent for high precision gear reducer boxes. These reducer boxes are used on Airbus airplanes for the opening and closing door control levers, position stabilizers, and power controls. In military aviation and armament, these reducer boxes are used to position the gunner’s turret in helicopters and tanks. The know-how and experience needed to design and manufacture these reducer boxes include manufacturing gears with highly complex geometry, such as spiro-conic or helical, with micron level precision that requires grinding after thermal treatment.
Standard gear reducer boxes
The Setam Carabin company has designed a set of 5 high precision standard gear reducer families, ranging from 26mm to 260mm in diameter and with the following characteristics :
- high impulsion overload allowing for the acceleration of torques up to 415 Nm
- low inertia of input gears
- stiffness avoiding oscillations within the regulation loops
- strict reduction ratios integer numbers from 1 to 200
- less than 3 arc minutes axial backlash
- co-axial input and output.
